*** Being mentally ill does not mean that you can’t be both intelligent and extremely talented-GIFTED-even an GENIUS! Some of the most creatively gifted "GENIUS" people alive on this planet are somewhat insane! I saw the bruises on my mom’s frail body (& I later read her entire journal). Both my mother’s "sisters" had the NERVE to say to my mother (and to me) that my mother threw herself against a wall! (That isn’t what happened.) I handed over to the people who investigate these types of things the entire contents of the journal my mom kept when she was recently locked up in McLean’s mental hospital in Ma. There is still "surprisingly" a terrible, terrible STIGMA on mental illness. In case anybody out there reading this is "worried" that Lora has somehow "betrayed" her mother-I have not betrayed my mom in any way. My mom asked me to put her poem out in cyberspace. ***Neither Lora nor her mother give one flying f what the rest of the "so called" family thinks or wants kept "quiet"….. I got a ticket for failing to yield to an emergency vehicle?
I want to know can I win this ticket Im goin to court on friday and ok I was in a red light and then I turned right… as I turned right a Van Cop Car came out of its parking position which was a firehydrant… His lights were not on at all (assuming there was any emergency what so ever) then I frantically beeped my horn to let him know I was approaching… I was in shock I trully did not see him then he said "are u kidding me" I got upset and said didnt you see me I was with my child and my husband and so I was more upset. He gave me that ticket… Then we were both on the same path to take a double way street. I put my phone on camera when I was on a red light and then took a pic of his car without the emergency lights (He was in no emergency RIGHT!!!) he saw me I guesss my phone flashed and he stopped me again and gave me a ticket for misuse of phone… Im in brooklyn so i dont know what the rules are but I had no calls at that time and I have a blackberry which u can just press the side button and take a pic in less that 6 sec…. I took the pic because I wanted to show proof at court that the vehicle was in no emergency….
lol I dont have a attitude problem… in brooklyn these police officers are F*** retarded…. I live one block away from one and I remmber that in one occasion I was just passing my green light and a cop was speeding and almost crashed into me as I was turning left on my street and I was pregnant… and he gave me a hard as look as if it was my fault… and u know why he was speeding because he wanted to get into their parking lot with no siren or light!!!!! anyway I have the pic and I was not using my cell phone at the time so there is no misss use of my cell phone I was doing some research and they must have at leat one light and use of cell phone is close to your ear or communication from one phone to another… which didnt happen… I got proof… and Im def not gonna have an attitude what are u crazy….. THe ticket reads "failure to yield to an emergency vehicle" not "failure to yield to a vehicle responding to an emergency." You can go to traffic court and try to fight it but your only real shot at winning is if the cop doesn’t show up.

You won’t win in court without a slimy lawyer. And even then odds are you are just wasting money. He does not have to be in an emergency to be considered and emergency vehicle. And, he always has the right of way.

You probably would have got away without the lip and the camera. Sometimes you have to kiss butt in life to get by. This was one of those times.

The judge is only interested in one thing: what are the facts in law. The first thing you need to do is understand what you were charged with. Your summons contains the State statutes you allegedly violated. Go on the Internet and find the exact statutes listed. You can also find them at your local public library. After you read them, note every word in the statute.

At the beginning of every chapter in the statutes is a section called "Definitions". Look up and understand the important words. Words like: emergency vehicle, yield, misuse, phone, etc. If the definitions don’t agree with the circumstances at the time you were cited, ask why you were even ticketed.

Based on the definitions you find, you may want to ask:

Is there evidence the officer declared an emergency at the time my car approached his?

Is everyone required to yield to an emergency vehicle at all times?

If no definition of "fill in the blank" exists in the statutes, how can one be cited for violating "statute name or number?"

Here’s more. If the officer who ticketed you is not in the court room, the prosecution cannot proceed. He or she is the only witness for the State. The prosecutor and the judge do not have first hand knowledge of the incident. Any police reports submitted as evidence are hearsay.

Use common sense. Be smart but don’t act smart. Ask lots of questions. Don’t give answers to questions you don’t understand. Ask for clarifications. Leave your emotions at home.

My Apartment Complex workout room rules?
Ok so i’m 13 and it says you have to be 14 to go to the workout room even with an adult. An older guy (30 or 40) asked me how old I was but I was un-aware on what the rules were and I was honest. He pointed out the rules on the wall but I wasn’t sure why. Here was the conversation:

Him: Hey how old are you?
Me: 13
Him: My doctor said that people under the age of 14 shouldn’t be lifting weights.
Me: Oh, thanks for the help.
Him: No problem.

Then he pointed to the rules board and said 14.
Then we left. Not because of him but because I had a blister.

What should I say to him when I go in there tomorrow? He’s in there EVERY SINGLE DAY.

Unless you are there making lots of noise and making trouble there should be no trouble you being there and especially so if youre w/an adult. If he asks you again youre there or says something to you, tell you just turned 14 the other day I hate nosy people who want to know thing that are none of their business. i really would think if youre there w/an adult it should be fine for now. But at my apartment community you have to be at least sixteen to swim in the pool by yourself. its just the apartment complex trying to protect their own butts in case you drown or in this case drop a weight on yourself.

Okay, so Im 13 too. Something like that just happened to me. The rules sound kind of weird, because as far as I know, it’s ok for 13 year olds to lift weights as long as your not lifting more than you can handle (we lift weights in gym class, and idk why my gym teacher would tell us to lift weights if it wasn’t safe). I think you should just tell him that you know how to use the machine safely and he has nothing to worry about.

‘Darker Than Light’ was co-written, recorded and produced with Steve Rushton (formerly Son Of Dork co-front man/bassist; now signed to Hollywood Records) who also peformed guitars and bass on all the songs.
