 Keeping the Faith (2000)
IMDB rating: 6.60
Plot: A love triangle between three friends. Rabbi Jake Schram and Father Brian Finn, two friends, are out to update their religions and draw in more worshipers. With the arrival of Anna Reilly, an old childhood friend of the two, the men’s lives are thrown a curve ball. Anna has become a stunning beauty with a lot of spunk and ambition, and both of them want her. A major road block to Anna for both men is their religion. Jake is up for a head position at his synagogue and taking on a non-Jewish partner is frowned upon, besides the fact that his mother disowned his brother for marrying a non-Jewish woman. Brian has given a vow of celibacy to become a priest.

am i being deceived by this foreign (arabic)man?
my bf is foreign (arabic from a muslim state but says he is christian). hes a usa citizen once married now divorced. he wants me to move to another city with him. he doesnt want to live with me or get married. he wants to keep me in an apartment and pay for my bills. he works round the clock at a highly professional job. i talk to him for hours on the phone when he isnt working and spent the free moments with him. so i know he doesnt have anyone on the side.
when i ask him why not move in with him? he says thats what he wants and he wants to get married. but still he is getting me a spearate place in 6 months to a year. he tells me, bc he wants to know if ill move and he is working on building his capital.
ive told him i want to get married.
do you know why he wants this arrangement with me? he appears to love me a lot. i love him a lot. he is very nice. we care for each other.
also he has introducedme to his brother who is very nice and even helped me move. we have all gone out to eat.
meanwhile he has met my whole family (at his insistence). but he wont introduce me to anyone else– his business partner, father, best friend, mother. we have been together for 9 months.
i asked him why. he said, well u never met your exes family. i said thats bc he had a bad family that did not want to see me. but i dont want it like that way in the future for me.
also i asked him if hes christian, but he didnt seem to know how many wise men there were. he also thinks christma gifts are stupid. it is possible, maybe they dont teach about wise men there? i wonder if hes not christian, but hes afraid i might not like it bc i told him how its important i have someone share the same faith.
am i being deceived? will he ever marry me?
please only honest answers, not by racists who suspect everything. im looking for honest answers maybe from ppl of that culture.
thanks.
Sama old story of the same old days

He could be coptic, orthodox christian, non practising.
Here’s a little story: A friend and work associate of mine met a wealthy arabic man who had a senior position within government. (A very nice man by the way) He was married but his wife was very ill and he always promised he would marry my friend one day.
They had a relationship for many years and one day as anticipated the wife died.
After an appropriate amount of time wedding arrangements were made and the man went off to his country to make alternative arrangements there. The idea was to have a registry office wedding in the uk and a full blown affair in his country. He never turned up for the wedding.
After excuses and apologies, they resumed their relationship and one day my friend who was now running her own company went to do a quotation at a potential clients home. Whilst there she noticed many arabic pictures and ornaments and asked the woman about them, saying she had spent some time in arabic countries.
The woman explained that she was married to an arabic man who worked abroad a lot and then got out the wedding photos. Yes you guessed it…the same man!
The moral to this story is..never trust them. He wants a kept woman, a mistress.

He is a playa! If he is buiding his capitol why would he pay for 2 apartments? He must have a wife and she knows nothing about you also. what will you do when he decides to cut you loose and stops paying the rent. you are his sex only

You suspect he’s dishonest, so don’t criticize others who agree with you. Of course he’s deceiving you. The fact that he’s Arabic means nothing. These guys come from all corners of the Earth.
Tell him this, "There’s only 1 thing I need to see before I move…. your naturalization certificate and US passport."

You don’t want to see a faxed copy either. The very next time you are with him you want to see the originals. I guarantee you he doesn’t have them. He’ll tell you he lost them, they were destroyed in a fire or his dog ate them. He’ll string you along with promises. He’ll do anything and everything but produce the original documents.

i’m so sorry, but IMO i think that he has alterior motives. men from arabaic countries are raised with rigid standards of dating depending on whether he sees the woman as madonna or the whore. in his culture he is showing you respect and as wife material by not living with you before marriage. however, i would strongly urge you to seriously consider his motives for wanting to pay for your apt. etc. it sounds like he is setting up perfect isolation for you and i wonder why????
perhaps he could entrap you, get you pregnant, start abusing you and never marry you, but keep you around for some whenever he needs some.
i don’t think you should let any man have that type of financial leverage over you cuz your not married and will be living seperately. hell, even if you were married, it sounds like he has a problem with women working or making money. once again, deep seated cultural issues that won’t change.
well, i wish you the best of luck. please be careful and think this all through very carefully.
i say if he doesn’t marry you and introduce you to his family. NOW….then DON’T MOVE WITH him for any reason. you’ve got nothing to prove to him or his family.
they will either accept you or not. if they don’t accept you your life will be hell with him if he can’t go against their wishes.
